What is Jikiden Reiki?

Jikiden Reiki means "directly taught" or "directly passed on".

Jikiden Reiki is authentic Reiki in its purest and simplest form, as originally developed by Mr Mikao Usui and then enhanced by Doctor Chujiro Hayashi.

Jikiden Reiki was designed to re-introduce the original style of Reiki to people, and for the teaching seminars to replicate the style and content of the seminars held by Chujiro Hayashi in the 1930’s.

Chiyoko Yamagushi - a student of Chujiro Hayashi

Chiyoko Yamaguchi first learned Reiki from Dr Chujiro Hayashi over 65 years ago when she was just 17 years old. She never stopped practising it until she passed away in August 2003. All her children, including Tadao Yamaguchi, had received Reiki before they were even born and practised on others from their early ages. Tadao Sensei would say " As I was growing up, my mother always used Reiki to cure me when I caught colds, had headaches or an injury of some kind. Through these experiences, I was able to appreciate the effectiveness of Reiki from an early age".

It was while attending a lecture that Tadao Sensei met a teacher from one of the Western Reiki branches who started to discuss with him the current status of Reiki in the West. Tadao Sensei was so surprised and pleased to hear that there were so many practitioners in the World today and that Reiki was now accepted as an alternative therapy in many countries. With regards to the teacher, he was even more surprised and pleased to hear that Tadao Sensei had learned Reiki from his mother and that she had learned directly from Dr Chujiro Hayashi!

After this meeting, several Reiki teachers came to visit Chiyoko Yamaguchi and her son Tadao Yamaguchi.  These teachers explained to Chiyoko and Tadao the teaching system in Reiki schools in Japan. They encouraged the teachers to teach the Reiki technique, which Chiyoko Yamaguchi and  her family had learned directly from Dr Hayashi in its pure and original form. This had not been amended like the many Reiki techniques practised in the West.

Tadao Yamagushi - son of Chiyoko Yamaguchi

Since Chiyoko Yamaguchi passed away in 2003, her son, Tadao Yamaguchi, now runs the Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai (Institute) from Kyoto in Japan with great success.
